Introduction: There are many people in the world who love to hide themselves, working in silence to fulfill their heart’s desire. He has contributed a lot in many fields in many places. Many warriors have contributed significantly to the establishment and expansion of empires, even though the name of the empire has been better known by the name of some other hero. Today we will learn about a hero whose contribution to empire building is undeniable. Without whom the formation of an empire is unimaginable. Who did not hesitate to spend all his money in the formation of the state. Let’s know the short biography of that hero,,,,,,, who is he,,, what is his identity? 

Identity and Birth and Ancestry: Turgut Bay, known as Turgut Alp in some accounts of Turkish history. According to Turkish history, Turgut Alp was born around 1200 AD. His father was Kaynur Alp. Suleiman Shah adopted him after his father’s death. She had a son named Elias Bey. There is also a mosque in Turkey named after his son.

1st Gazi of Artugurul’s comrades and empire: He was one of the most skilled axe-wielders, well-built, strong-armed, brave and faithful warriors. Artugrul was always by Gazi’s side as a trusted friend (brother). And he obeyed his every word. He used to fight shoulder to shoulder with Artugrul Gazi. Moreover, he fought on the battlefield with his son and Usman Ghazi and conquered several forts of the infidels. He also supported Osman Ghazi’s son Urhan Ghazi. This heroic warrior is known as the first Ghazi or warrior of the Ottoman Empire.

He was one of the greatest and most famous warriors in Turkish history. Artugrul Gazi’s close confidant, lifelong sidekick, and blood brother. As well as his best followers and supporters, he was a very smart and capable man. Although little is known about his personal life, it is well known that, “He is not only a historical figure, but also a legendary brave who appears in folk narratives”.

In addition to these, his warrior exploits and noble deeds are independently recorded in early Ottoman chronicles and some Byzantine chronicles (sources). At the age of 35, he saved Artugrul’be from the Mongol forces, disregarding his own life as he went to fight on the battlefield.

Marital life: Marriage is the Sunnah of Rasulullah SAW, Turgut Alp made that Sunnah a reality. Turgut Alp’s married life is disputed in Turkish history. According to researchers and historians, he had two marriages. First he married Aykis Hatun, the beautiful daughter of Ustad Delidemir, the blacksmith of Kayi Basti. Aikis was martyred in battle. Heroism of Turgut Alp during the reign of Usman Ghazi:

After the death of Artugrul Gazi, Turgut Alp became a close confidant of Osman, becoming his chief supporter.  Osman was Gazi’s companion until his death. Usman Ghazi died at the age of 67 years only and he has supported and supported the rule of Usman Ghazi. According to Ottoman chronicles, Turgut Alp was at the side of Osman Bey during the second conquest of Karakahisar citadel in 1291 AD. 

He made an outstanding contribution by fighting with the knights and participated in all the conquests of Uthman in later times. Historical Axe:–Turgut Alp became famous in the public mind, in the pages of history because of this extraordinary ax and skill in handling the axe. His ax was 97 cm long and weighed 1 kg 650 grams. It was made by ironsmiths of the historical city of Bursa which is still kept as a memorial in the National Museum in Istanbul, Turkey.

Governor of Inigul: After the conquest of Inegul in 1299 AD, Usman Gazi appointed this brave man as the governor of Inegul. This territory consisting of a few villages was given to him by Osman. There he led and won the hearts of the subjects. He ruled there for 36 years, and during that time the people lived in peace and prosperity. The region was named Turgut-Ili (Land of Turgut). During the siege of Bursa, Turgut Alp took part in the conquest of Atranos Castle (Orhaneli) in 1325, which played an important role in the conquest of Bursa.

The role of Turgut Alp during the reign of Urhan Gazi: Turgut Alp participated in the Bursa campaign in 1325. During the siege of Bursa, Turgut Alp along with Mihal Gazi took part in the conquest of ‘Atranos Castle’ (Orhaneli Palace) in 1325 which played an important role in the conquest of Bursa. He was with Orhan Gazi during the conquest of Bursa in 1326. He was adept at fighting the polytheists with the help of an ax on the battlefield. 

Sulaiman Shah, Artugrul Gazi, Usman Gazi and Orhan Gazi were engaged in the struggle to establish the empire with these four men.  

After Osman’s death, although he had reached old age, his son Sultan II continued to support Urhan Ghazi in the same way as his father, and followed Urhan Ghazi in every conquest. Also served as his most trusted advisor.

Year of Death: This great hero of the Ottoman Empire died in 1328. He was buried in Inigul Cemetery in Bursa. He was about 128 years old at the time of his death. Read More Historical articles
