If Muslim youths are asked about Khairuddin Barbarossa, most of them do not know him. Those who know may know only that, a pirate with a red beard. In the Mediterranean, he used to roam around drunkenly.

Oops! This great Mujahid of Islam has been depicted in pirates of the Caribbean Hollywood movies and novels by Western writers.

But Khairuddin Barbarossa was no pirate. He was a naval commander of the Ottoman Sultanate. His outstanding contribution to the Ummah is recorded in the pages of history. But have we ever had the opportunity to open the pages of history?Barbaroslar Episode 4 with English Subtitles

Khairuddin Barbarossa would probably have a place in the pages of history like two or four other generals. But because of his outstanding contribution, he shines in his glory.

The Ummah is bound to remember him for his unforgettable deeds. Khairuddin Barbarossa devoted himself to jihad fi sabilillah for a century and a half.

He freed 70 thousand Muslims from Andalus and brought them to Algeria. He freed the Mediterranean Sea from Spanish and Portuguese pirates. It was he who brutally defeated the Crudos at the Battle of Braeface.

Khairuddin Barbarossa was born in 1470 AD, on the island of Lesbos in Crete. He was the 3rd of four brothers. Father Yaqub bin Yusuf was a general fighting in the Ottoman army. Mother was a woman from the noble Muslim family of Andalus family.

The family was simple, with no leadership in politics or society. Other brothers of Khairuddin Barbarossa are:

2/ Isaac
3/ Elias

Oruch and Elias operated in the Levant, i.e. modern Syria and Lebanon, and Hijir in the Asiatic Sea. Salonica was the main base of Khairuddin Barbarossa.

The elder brother Isaac stayed on the island, his job was to look after the family business. Oruch was a skilled sailor. He was proficient in several languages.

On his way back from an expedition to Tripoli, Lebanon, Saint John was attacked by bandits. Oruch was captured, and Elias was killed in the conflict.

Oruch was imprisoned in the enemy’s fort for three years, Khairuddin, on hearing the news, went there and helped Oruch to escape. On his release, Oruch came to Anatolia, Turkey, where he was assigned by the Ottoman governor, Shahzada Karkut, to fight against the Kartik pirates.

At that time the pirates were attacking the Ottoman ships and causing a lot of damage. Oruch continued to raid these pirates one after another.

However, Oruch rose to fame by conducting campaigns in Andalusia, Spain. In 1492 AD, the Islamic Empire of Andalus fell.

The Muslim people of Andalus then crossed the sea and migrated to different areas of Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and North Africa.
A terrible experience awaited those who could not leave Andalusia.

They were forcibly converted, these converts were later known as Moriscos. But many of the Muslims were outwardly converted and inwardly held to their aqeedah.

They also worshiped in secret, but this did not last long. They were subjected to brutal killings and brutal conditions.

Economists create this cruel situation. Ecclesiastes was a group of Christians who worked among converts. When their invasion began, Andalus became equivalent to hell for Muslims. A hell from which there is no escape. In 1515 AD, Oruch and Khairuddin attacked the Spanish naval base at Gizel in Algeria.

The Spanish were defeated in this battle and fled. Control of the city falls into Oruch’s hands. As this city is on the coast of the sea, Oruch considered this city as their headquarters.

In 1518 AD, Oruch and Khairuddin attacked the Spanish naval forces stationed in the town of Talisman. The Muslim forces faced stiff resistance in this battle. At one point in the battle, Oruch was surrounded by the Spanish. Barbaroslar Episode 4 with English Subtitles

He was cut down by the sword. Oruch grinned at the sky. He was martyred while reciting martyrdom in Kalema.

The Spanish decapitated the aurochs and transported them to Europe, their severed heads being paraded in various cities. In the church where Oruch’s head passed, the bells were rung to express joy.

Europeans were overjoyed at Oruch’s death. They thought that the death of Oruch would break the Muslims, but Muslims are not a nation of individuals.

Raising the flag is the main task for Muslims. It doesn’t matter who did it. Oruch’s death brought relief to the Europeans. But they didn’t know, that this relief would make them vanish into thin air.

Little did they know, they would soon have to face a warlord who was stronger and wiser than Oruch. Who alone will make the European forces sleepless in the coming days?

That commander is Khairuddin Barbarossa. After Oruch’s death, the leadership came to Khairuddin. He has a small army. In addition, a large area of Algeria is under his control.

He could have established his power independently in Algeria if he wanted. Aram could spend his days in comfort, aggrandizing the kingdom for the sake of the Spanish, as the Hafsi sultans of Dinesia were doing.

Khairuddin Barbarossa did not go that way. He does not want a life of comfort. The path of jihad fi sabilillah is the purpose of his life. He often said to his companions, Jihad fi sabilillah is better when death is the end.

Khairuddin was thinking about the Muslims of Andalus, where he and his brother had freed several Muslims earlier. But many prisoners are still in the prisons of the Inquisition.

Khairuddin wants to free everyone, meanwhile, the European fleet is in the Mediterranean. Khairuddin wants to crush them.

But it is not possible to work with Khairuddin’s small army, so he wants a strong ally by his side. Khairuddin was thinking, who can be the ally?

After much thought, he decided that the Ottomans could be the desired allies. On 23rd November 1519, Algerian dignitaries wrote a letter to Sultan Selim I.

In the letter, they mentioned the contribution of Oruch and Khairuddin. Describes how they fought against the Europeans. He was very happy to receive this letter. He annexed Algeria to the Ottoman Empire. From that day on, sermons were read in the name of Sultan Selim in Algeria. Sultan Selim sent 2,000 soldiers and a garrison to Algeria.

Khairuddin was awarded honorary speed. Khairuddin succeeds his brother and is entrusted with finishing his brother’s unfinished mission.

He didn’t want power, he wanted a little help. With which to run, to persecuted Muslims, Sultan Sulayman Alkanuni came to power after Sultan Selim I.

Like his father, he continued to help Khairuddin. In 1529, the Spanish attacked a fort in Algeria. Where he shelled continuously for 20 days.

Later the fort fell and the Spanish fled. Many were prisoners, that same year Khairuddin went to different coasts of Spain with 34 ships.
And who freed the Muslims and brought them to Algeria.

Thus Khairuddin conducted several campaigns. Khairuddin freed 70 thousand Muslims from captivity and brought them to Algeria.

Khairuddin’s name was Hijir but the people of Andalus gave him the surname Khairuddin. Later he became known by the name.

This name is associated with the history of his outstanding courage and struggle for religion and Islam.

Europeans call it Dei Barbarossa. In European languages the word means red-bearded. Khairuddin was regularly conducting expeditions in the Mediterranean. He continued to defeat European fleets one after another. Barbaroslar Episode 4 with English Subtitles

He became irresistible. In 1533 AD Sultan Sulayman Alkanuni invited Khairuddin to Istanbul. Khairuddin left for Istanbul with 44 ships.

On the way to the island where he was stopping, the eager crowd rushed to catch a glimpse of him!
When Khairuddin arrived in Istanbul, he was given state honors. He was accommodated in a mahal next to the palace.

The Sultan appointed him as the head of the Ottoman Navy. He was also appointed Governor of North Africa. The Sultan presented him with a jeweled sword. Barbaroslar Episode 4 with English Subtitles

Khairuddin was instructed to build a navy. He was given charge of the armory and the Golden Horn. Khairuddin started working very quickly. He built eighty-four ships in one year.

Khairuddin then attacked some Italian islands with his fleet. A few cities were captured by the Ottomans. Historians write that Barbarossa captured twelve islands. And by attacking 13 islands, he profited financially. A total of 16,000 soldiers were captured in his campaign. More than 4 lakh gold coins were gained as booty.

Naka Chubakhawa Europeans decided this time to make a final attack on Khairuddin. Drive the Muslim fleet out of the Mediterranean. The European third calls for unity. The war rang out in Europe.

The largest navy of the time was formed. News of the Europeans’ preparations for war reached Khairuddin. He also started preparing with his army.

302 European large force warships have arrived, and the total number of troops is 60 thousand.

The Ottoman army had 122 ships and only 12,000 soldiers.

Endoria Doria led the European forces, and Khairuddin Barbarossa led the Muslim forces. His associate is Saeed Ali Roys, the author of the famous Mamalik book.

By any analysis, this war was a war of no limits. In terms of strength, the Ottoman forces would not last long in front of such a large European force. Khairuddin Barbarossa divided his army into 4 divisions.

Khairuddin’s fleet had already started shelling. European forces retaliated against them. But Khairuddin’s first attack managed to drive a wedge between the Europeans.

Despite everything, the Ottoman forces continued to advance and this forced a rift between the Europeans. After 7 hours of fighting the European forces were defeated. Endoria Doria runs away. Thirteen European ships were destroyed in the battle.

36 ships were captured by the Ottomans. 3 thousand European soldiers were captured while 400 Ottoman soldiers were martyred. 800 soldiers were injured. They did not lose any ships.

The outcome of this battle was incredible. Soon news of this battle spread throughout the Muslim world.

The sound of Allahu Akbar began to be pronounced from the mosques of Mecca, Medina, Al Quds, Samarkand, Damascus, and Cairo, as a result of this war, the authority of the Ottomans was established in the Mediterranean Sea.

For the next three centuries, the leadership of the Mediterranean remained in the hands of the Ottomans. Even the ships of England, Denmark, France, and Sicily paid taxes to the Ottomans for using the Mediterranean Sea. Barbaroslar Episode 4 with English Subtitles

The main reason for the victory in this war was the strategic attack of Khairuddin Barbarossa and the reliable service of the army chief. To Europe, this name was like panic!

In 1444 AD Khairuddin attacked Sonorimo, Borgiddo, Santo, Isperetto, Sirari in Italy. He defeated the fleets of Spain and Italy. He then sailed for Genoa with 210 ships. Turkish Admiral Turgut Reis was held captive there. Barbaroslar Episode 4 with English Subtitles

Khairuddin threatened to attack the city if Rais was not released. A meeting is held at the palace of Endora Doria. It will be decided in the meeting that Rais will be released in exchange of 3 thousand gold coins. Then Khairuddin appeared at the gates of the city of Elbow. Khairuddin threatened to shell the city if he was not released. As the city administrator did not agree with Khairuddin’s words, Khairuddin launched a fierce attack. Later the city administrator was forced to bow to Khairuddin’s intensity. Sinan Reyes’ son was released.

Khairuddin Barbarossa spent his entire life at sea. He was busy with one campaign after another. He could have chosen a normal comfortable life if he wanted to. But he chose the path of jihad fi sabilillah.

In 1545 AD, Khairuddin Barbarossa went to Istanbul with his son Hasan Pasha in charge, and died in Istanbul on July 4, 1546 AD!
